Branson / Ozarks Area
The Ozarks Area includes an area of mountains in northwestern Arkansas and southeastern Missouri with many of the highest peaks exceeding 2,000 feet. The name “Ozark” probably derives from the French trading post Aux Arc, established in the area in the 1700’s. The Ozarks Area is a popular vacation and outdoor recreation destination visited annually by millions of tourists. Yet, due to its vast expanse, the Ozark Mountains remain uncrowded, unpolluted, and unspoiled. The scenic Ozarks, with forests, streams, lakes and mineral springs, are a popular spot for locating summer homes and for seniors choosing to re-locate after retirement.
Branson, Missouri, located in the Ozarks, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Area residents welcome and entertain more than one hundred thousand visitors to Branson each day. Besides the more than fifty shows, there are many other sites to see in Branson and the surrounding area. One can take in a show in a theater or on a showboat or enjoy the theme parks that are open throughout the year. After visiting the theme parks and shows, one can enjoy the area lakes and championship golf courses. There's something for everyone in Branson, Missouri and the Ozarks!
